The Cause of Success

Theme Song: "Leavin'" - Jesse McCartney
Life Outlook: Tired, but good.
Current Weather: 11
°C, Cloudy

Last night I had a discussion with some friends about education, work, and the cost to become successful. The opinions expressed were varied and while I strongly disagree with one point of view, it did raise the question - what does it take to become successful and what defines success?

I sit here listening to the music of the very gorgeous Jesse McCartney and can't believe that he's two years younger then I am. It makes me wonder what I've done with my life. While I will never dream of or aim for superstar fame, I certainly want my life to have some form of meaning.

So, what does it take to be a success? Do you need to spend years in school to get a bjillion degrees and be an expert in everything? Do you have to start your own family business and build it from the ground up? Or do you simply just have to set a goal for yourself like buying a home, and fulfill it? I'm sure everyone will have their own unique answer. My answer is this: I don't know.

A year ago I would have said "to get published." However now a year later, the more I attempt to write the more I find myself getting writers block. It just feels like such an unattainable, crushing, goal. I suppose I could say that my goal at this point is to find a career that makes me happy...something that I'll want to do for a long time and truly enjoy.

What about you? Which of your goals would make you a success if you were to attain it?
