Earth Day, April 22nd.
The media was flooded with Green and Earth Day references today - a flood very much akin to the rising Red here in Manitoba. YouTube featured videos on how to live Green, television stations ran Green programs and all over the world the news was flooded with Earth Day articles and broadcasts. It's sad and kind of pathetic, but in a green way of course.
Yes, the Green movement has been gaining a lot of momentum and each day gets more and more support. However its still unfortunate that it takes one specific day for people to focus on the Earth and the environment. Earlier today Joshie wrote on Facebook, "Isn't every day Earth Day?" something that more people need to realize. Awareness needs to be raised more than one day a year.
Now of course with that being said, I can't claim to be the world's largest Green advocate. Hell, I hate the color green, but I do believe that everyone needs to do their part (however small) in order to keep our environment sustainable. Take public transit, turn off lights, use recycled products...and in my case, get audited by the city because you use less water then the average person. Yes, you heard me - I'm getting audited for not wasting water in the shower. *Sigh*
I hope that everyone has had a wonderful April 22nd, and remembers that every day is Earth Day. :-)
