H Is For Hibernation

  • MSN Name: Christopher

C is for Cookie, that's good enough for me.

Winter has finally arrived, and to all you f-ers who enjoy this weather: I hate you with a passion. The only thing good about this blasted season is Christmas/Channukah/etc. I'm quite looking forward to this holiday season - not sure why. I guess I just feel in the spirt (already, which is scary). I already have to get a gift for a Christmas party in a few weeks...joy. I get to decorate my tree in a few weeks (which I'm excited about). Having it up now is too early, but in December it'll be acceptable.

Gwen is in two days, woot. Harry Potter in four. Rent comes in nine days. I'm psyched.

I'm currently reading Bloody Bones which seems to be a good book so far. The more I read this series though, the more similarities I see between my character Liz and Anita Blake. Not good. I've been working on developing my ideas for Aeris a little more though, so hopefully that'll help. I've also been trying to visualize Sham a little more - hopefully Laura and I can get more done with that in the coming weeks.

Running tomorrow, woot. I've been endevouring to eat breakfast in the morning, which has proved to be slightly successful:

Bowl of Almond Crunch Cereal.
Milk.
Mandarin Orange.
Berry Soy Juice.

It's an improvement. Between that and running I've been trying to take better care of myself. I'm going to see about maybe doing drop in classes at Vibe when I have time between shifts at work. We'll see if that gets off the ground, I hope so - I miss taking regular dance. I was in a check-stand next to Jen on Sunday and notice her doing dance stretches and commented on it (not many cashiers do dance stretched as work)...apparently she did gymnastics for nine years.

I have creative ideas rushing through my mind all the time now. I feel revitalized. Problem is I'm not writing. I haven't really forced myself to sit down and write since I finished my novel. I need some time away from that, at least for a bit. I have lots of ideas, and tonnes of sticky notes...but no actual words on paper. Maybe its for the best. Part of me considered doing NaNoWriMo this November, but I figured it would be akin to suicide. Between exams, holidays movie releases and the state of my room - I need time to catch up on my life.

Life...it's been good lately. Joshie and I are starting editing on my novel soon - which has been getting good feedback. School is going okay, nothing spectacular, but it's not a disaster like last year, which always gets my approval. Work is going decently well - no major complaints in that department.  The piano has been beconing to me lately - I still need to get to Tredwells and find some Vanessa Carlton music...hmmmm, remind me to tell Andrea that.

MERP anyone? I'll be on the horn about that soon, keep some time open in December. If you don't know what it means (or got Jessica's memo) please disregard.

Remember kids: C is for Cardiac Arrest! G'night!

Late Night Updates

  • MSN Name: Christopher
  • Life Outlook: Excellent
  • Theme Song: "Another Day (No Day But Today)" - Rent
It's a bit after midnight and I'm really tired so I'm going to bed soon (promise). I figured it was time for some sort of update on how things have been lately. I got my novel back from Terri and I got my first (really) positive review. Of course she had some critiquing comments to make, but that was expected and is more then welcome...but yay, someone liked it! It's not complete crap! Yay! That was definitely an exciting thing to learn. Now my mother and Sabrina are reading copies - which is rather scary. We'll see what they have to say about it.

The Gwen Stefani concert is in a week and two days. Woot! I'm quite looking forward to that. It'll be great. Yay!

As a note, anyone who is able to and interested is invited to join me in seeing Rent on the 23rd of November. I plan on going there and it'll be a blast. For those of you who don't know what Rent is...well you're not welcome to attend. :-P Just kidding. If you're interested in going, let me know. :-) Yay!

I work six days this week - boo-urns to that. It only gives me thiry hours though - which is decent, but still...six days. *Sighs* At least work pays good money, or I wouldn't be there still. That reminds me that I need to do some banking tomorrow. Hmmm, this post really has meandered a great deal. I think I'm going to head to bed and maybe work on some character ideas for my novel and maybe try to figure out some history for Shamiem. :-) G'night world!

...and remember, 'forget regret or life is yours to miss.'

Rent!

Rent opens on November 23rd!

The heart may freeze, or it can burn,
The pain will ease if I can learn,
There is no future, there is no past,
I live this moment as my last,

There's only us, there's only this,
Forget regret, or life is yours to miss,
No other road, no other way,
No day but today...

There's only us, only tonight,
We must let go to know what's right,
No other course, no other way,
No day but today...

I can't control my destiny,
I trust my soul, my only goal is just to be...

There's only now, there's only here,
Give in to love or live in fear,
No other path, no other way,
No day but today...no day but today...
No day but today...no day but today...

No day but today...
No day but today...

Movies To See

  • MSN Name: Christopher - :[ Happy Hallowe'en! :[
  • Life Outlook: Tired, Yet Good
  • Theme Song: "Another Day (No Day But Today)" - Rent

Harry Potter & The Goblet of Fire: I can't say that I've read any of the Harry Potter novels so far, however I must admit I was quite impressed with the 3rd installment of this series. The previews look quite outstanding, and I'm quite looking forward to seeing this movie. Damn, if only I could cast spells. Liam, next year we'll dress you up and give you a wand for Hallowe'en. :-) (November 18th)

Rent: Yay! I loved seeing Rent on stage last year and I love the music for this so much. Plus, I'm a Rosario Dawson fan. I hope the movie remains true to the musical, because if not I'll be rather disappointed. The teaser trailor that has been released looks rather impressive and I'm quite excited. Man I'm going to spend too much money on movies this month. (November 23rd)

Aeon Flux: Mostly special effects and pointless fluff, but could be a fun movie to see, if I have time. (December 2nd)

The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe: EXCITED!!! Ahem. Anyone who doesn't know, I'm a huge fan of the Chronicles books and I'm quite excited to see this movie when it comes out. I saw the previews months ago and immediately fell in love with it all. Yay, Tilda Swinton will make an amazing Queen Jadis. Woot! *Does a little dance* Everyone is required to come see this movie with me, or they shall face my wrath. :-D (December 9th)

Brokeback Mountain: Jake Gyllenhaal is cute, need I say more? This looks mostly like a feel good movie, and I hope I have a chance to see it. It comes out the same week as Chronicles so it's definitely going to have to wait. Oh well. Yay Chronicles! (December 9th)

- - -

So yeah, those are the three main movies that I must and the two movies I might try to catch in the next little while. Yay for Chronicles - I've already booked the time off work. Yes, we all know I'm sad. However it should be noted that those books have been a big inspiration to me, and have helped shape a lot of my ideas of Aeternus. Speaking of which, I've named one of the heroines in my new novel...Aeris Raine. Thoughts?

Halloween is tomorrow which I'm quite excited for. My costume has worked out quite well so far (despite a small setback with a henna tattoo). I don't know exactly what I'm doing tomorrow, might hand out candy to kids, or go to a party, or who knows. Either way I hope it'll be fun. Yay! Happy Hallowe'en Everyone!

Now, off to bed with me. I have lots of cleaning to do tomorrow, and hopefully if I get a chance I might work on a chapter of my novel with Laura. Yay!

The Reavers Are Coming!

  • MSN Name: Christopher - :[ Happy Hallowe'en! :[
  • Life Outlook: Tired, But Good
  • Theme Song: "Rinse" - Vanessa Carlton

Only five more days until Hallowe'en. Yay!

Josh and I saw Serenity recently - I loved it. *Drools* I never really had a chance to get into Firefly, but I quite enjoyed Serenity, it was great. I've always secretly been a fan of Jewel Staite, I was a big fan of Space Cases when I was younger (yes, we all know I shall always be a geek). It was a lame show, but cute. Getting back on track, Serenity - yes that movie was great. I quite enjoyed the storyline with the Reavers...

...which brings me to the title of my post. Recently while surfing through VG Cats I came across a comic concerning WoW, and Soul Reavers. I've added an avatar from the strip to this post because I find it humorous, and it seems to fit with the Halloween spirit. :-) Getting back to the Reavers topic, the movie gave me a few ideas that I really like and I've been slowly using them to evolve my concept ideas for Novel #2. Novel #1 needs a lot of work still, but who can blame me for being eager to get to work on a second novel?

Side Note: Last week in Riddell I overheard two students talking and one of them was bitching about how he had to write 3,000 words in an English Essay by this week. I said something along the lines of "I wrote 25,000 words last week, stop complaining." Of course it was more to myself and they didn't really hear it, but I was so tempted to bring it to his attention. Sure my novel isn't Oprah Book Club quality just yet, but 50,000 words is an impressive feat, one I'm proud of. :-) Go me!

I work at a different store tomorrow, that should be interesting.

Before I head to bed I thought I would share a nice quote I found tonight...seems to relate with my apparently obsession with photographs. "A room hung with pictures is a room hung with thoughts." - Sir Joshua Reynolds

Ouch!

New Rule: I must shave at least once every 4-5 days. It hurts shaving stubble!

Hallow's Eve!

  • MSN Name: Christopher - :[ Happy Hallowe'en! :[
  • Life Outlook: Great!
  • Theme Song: "Everybody Get Up" - 5ive

Is it sad that I was excited to hear that it's going to get up to 13 degrees today? Yes.
Am I ready for Halloween yet? Almost!
Do I have an unusual obsession with pictures? You bet.

As you may have noticed, I've done a lot of updating to my MSN Space recently. I've been adding a lot of pictures lately. My space currently boasts 462 photos in 11 albums. I'm currently trying not to freak out about the odd numbers; trying quite hard. For those of you confused as to what I'm talking about, look at this list. I added a bunch of baby pictures today, along with adding to a new album entitled "My Family."

Joshua and I have been running this past week - man am I out of shape. We've only gone twice so far, but I hope that we can start to do it on a semi-regular basis so that I can get my stamina up. I didn't realize how out of shape I am. Not good. :-( As an added benefit to running in the Duckworth Centre, we've had a chance to watch the Wesmen Men's Volleyball team run a practice. Mmmm.

I've been in a really good, hyper mood today - minus work calling me a million of course. I've been dancing around a lot - I'm quite looking forward to going dancing on Saturday. Last year I wasn't really in the Halloween spirit, but this year I'm all excited about it. Friends have a wonderful way of hyping you up for something. :-)

On that note, I shall head off and leave you with this devilish pumpkin carving...

Happy Hallowe'en!

What Do Those Funny Symbols Mean?!

  • MSN Name: Christopher - I Want A Totally Hot Peronal Assistant!
  • Life Outlook: לוהט, בוער‬
  • Theme Song: "My Humps" - Black Eyed Peas

First off let me begin by wishing everyone a Happy Chulalongkorn Day. If you don't understand, it's best not to ask.

I've decided to change the format of my MSN Space for a little while, in the mood for a bit of a change. I've been working on updating my photo albums and I've added some albums with pumpkins we've carved recently, pictures from Dracula and some of my family. The family album needs a lot of work, but I'll get to that soon. I've also been working on cleaning up my music lists, but those are low on the list of priorities just yet.

First one to figure out what "לוהט, בוער‬" means gets a prize. What the prize is, I don't know, but it'll be damned cool. Maybe a signed edition of my novel. Speaking of noveling, Laura and I have slowly been working out way back into our writing task, and I am currently preparing characters for a new novel (which takes place in the same world/time as my recent novel). I'm really in a creative swing right now, yay for completing a novel. I should have a few more hard copies printed out soon so that I can get people to read/critique/tell me how crappy it is.

Dracula was great. Yay. We went to the show in a limosine, went to Moxie's after. All in all it was a nice night. Tonight I went to Moxie's again with some people from work, and Christina bought me dinner (since I completed the novel). This week will be primarily spent catching up on some school work, cleaning the house, and getting ready for halloween. Tomorrow I hope to do some shopping and such. Yay. :-)

My room desperately needs to be cleaned.

If people hadn't considered The Sun a media tabloid the execs at the Winnipeg Sun killed any doubt today. Today's front page spread displayed the dead body of a mallard that had been speared in the head. On the front page was the duck's owner, crying. Now not only is the duck's death senseless, but the heartless fixation with showing what is graphic and cruel on the front page is far beyond me. Why? The man has suffered enough, and people are not going to benefit from seeing that. Plus, it's just adding fuel to the fire for groups who speak out against public displays of violence. Focus on politics, or news on relief efforts in China...or god forbid, the Ballet.

That was my rant for the night. It is now past 2:00AM and time for bed for me. Hopefully tomorrow will prove a productive day. Yay! :-) G'night world!
